Thursday 

North Park’s The Original 40 Brewing Company is hosting a beginners calligraphy workshop with holiday ornaments in partnership with Sip & Script on Thursday, December 15 at 6:30 p.m. as part of its “December Crafts and Craft Beers” series. Tickets are $65 and are available here. The price includes a calligraphy kit (two nibs, black ink pot, two letter guides, tracing paper, and straight pen holder) and all materials to write on. Guests are invited to come early for Happy Hour, which is from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. and includes $2 off all beer and wine.

Visit the back patio at Oceanside’s Q&A Restaurant and Oyster Bar every Thursday night when it hosts a weekly Crab Boil. From 4:00 p.m. until they sell out, guests can opt for either take-out or dine-in for their boiled crabs, shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes – all made fresh to order. Q&A will also be running drink specials on $4 Abita beers and Mango Mules, so grab a couple to round out the meal!

Saturday 

NOVO Brazil Brewing Company is holding NOVO Holiday Fest on Saturday, December 17 from 12:30 – 6:00 p.m. at its Lane Avenue brewery in Chula Vista, a free family-friendly event that features a supply drive for the children of Corazon de Vida, wreath-making workshop, art exhibition from Southwestern College students, ugly sweater contest, live music, food vendors, and an appearance by Santa. Preferred items for the supply drive include diapers, hand and dish soap, deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, etc. The wreath-making workshop, in conjunction with Patchwork, will take place from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 and are available here. On Saturday, December 17, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Eucalyptus Park, the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility is offering free microchipping, rabies vaccines, and DHPP vaccines for residents of Chula Vista and National City. Proof of residency and a government-issued ID are required. Limit 3 per household. Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in a carrier. No appointment necessary. Valid while supplies last. North Park Business & Neighborhood Foundation has partnered with Cox Communications to bring back the North Park Fan Zone for a FIFA World Cup championship match viewing party – this year at the new North Park Mini Park. The match starts at 7:00 a.m. and the free event will take place rain or shine. Catch all the action on a giant Cox Jumbo-tron with your closest soccer friends, along with activities for the kids, coffee for sale from Caffe Calabria, and a raffle. It’s open seating and you are encouraged to bring your own chair. The 2014 and 2018 events hosted more than 10,000 locals, so fans are advised to arrive early to reserve their spots. Bust out your ugliest Christmas sweater on Sunday, December 18 and head over to North Park’s Louisiana Purchase to take part in the Ugly Christmas Sweater Party and Contest. From 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., enjoy festive mimosas, signature brunch menu items, tunes by DJ DATBOY, and of course, an ugly sweater contest! Throughout the event, Louisiana Purchase will also be holding a toy drive with all donations going to Amir Alliance For Success's "Walk Away No Drama Today" project which supports disadvantages children residing in pubic and low income housing. Second Chance Beer Company on Sunday, December 18 is hosting Paint Your Pet with LoveJoy Creations! for animal owners to paint a portrait of their favorite family member. The art class is from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the brewery’s Carmel Mountain location. The cost is $65 with 15% going directly to the non-profit Second Chance Animal Rescue, which is dedicated to rescuing, caring for, and adopting out homeless dogs and cats into loving and responsible homes. All supplies are provided, and participants will learn how to transfer their pet photo onto a canvas panel (8x10 or 11x14) with the option of painting in Realistic or POPArt styles. Rouleur Brewing Company’s North Park taproom is partnering with neighbor Blackmarket Bakery to host an evening of gingerbread man decorating on Wednesday, December 21 from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and include two cookies, the decorating supplies, and one pint of beer.
