New Year's Day Brunch Specials

After raising a toast at midnight to ring in the new year, what better way to start the first day of the year than at New Year’s Day brunch?! There’s plenty of mimosas and brunch vibes to go around San Diego, as many of the county’s hotspots prepare their menus to help you raise a glass to 2023.  

Sandbar will open early at 9 a.m. to serve Mission Beach brunch by the beach! Kick off your first meal of the year the right way with Sandbar’s Breakfast Quesadilla with bacon, eggs, tots, mixed cheese, and topped with sour cream, guacamole, and salsa fresca. They’ve also got Bloody Mary’s to get you through the morning, and keep an eye on Sandbar’s socials as they continue to announce champagne specials leading up to the big day!  

Looking to keep it cozy? Join The Smoking Gun for a pajama party from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Their infamous bayside brunch menu will help you wake up on the right side of 2023! Indulge in Chicken & Waffles with waffle-battered fried chicken wings, maple-sriracha sauce, powdered sugar, and honey chive butter. Pair with a bottle of champagne or an espresso for maximum fun! 

Celebrate New Year’s Day in style at rooftop bar Cococabana. Located in downtown Oceanside, atop the Brick Hotel, their brunch menu includes Caribbean-style favorites like Jerk Butter Oysters, Wagyu Skewers, and Plaintain Hash & Eggs. Wash it all down with their new bottomless mimosas offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. What better way to start the year than with panoramic oceanside views?  

Q&A Restaurant & Oyster Bar, open on the ground floor of the Brick Hotel, will open for brunch at 11 a.m. at the same time as their rooftop counterpart. Offering a fuller brunch menu, Q&A will bring the flair of New Orleans to North County. Dig in with NOLA-style dishes and cocktails!  

Coco Maya opens at 10 a.m. for rooftop brunch in the heart of Little Italy! Start off your new year with champagne, cocktails, and unique Caribbean-style brunch plates. Enjoy their Dulce French Toast with kolache bread, dulce de leche, and assorted nuts. Satisfy your sweet tooth with a Frozen Caribe Coffee with spiced rum, cold brew, banana, coconut, and pineapple!  

If you’re spending New Year’s in North County, Park 101 is the ideal spot for outdoor brunch. Both child and dog-friendly, there is something for everyone at their 8,000 sq. ft. multi-level, plaza-style complex. With plenty of food and drink to choose from, there’s no better way to kick off a fantastic new year than with a boozy morning at Park 101! Visit from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. for brunch for two, the whole family, or a big party!  

Miss B’s Coconut Club has been a San Diego favorite since 2016, bringing mouthwatering food and cocktails to anyone looking to brunch like they mean it. Served until 2 p.m., Miss B’s is another great spot for brunch on the beach. Start fresh with an Acai Granola Bowl filled with acai, fresh honey granola, tropical fruit, berries, and toasted coconut. Sip on a Havana Good Time cocktail with vodka, Pamplemousse, house grapefruit and cucumber cordial, and guava kombucha, served up in a giant golden flamingo.

Louisiana Purchase brings a slice of New Orleans charm right to North Park! Join them for Brunch in the Bayou at 12 p.m. and indulge brunch delicacies artistically crafted in the same Cajun style as their lunch and supper menus.  

The champagne is always flowing at Farmer’s Bottega, casual farm-fresh brunch spot in Mission Hills run on the basis that “food doesn’t need to be complicated, but it’s important to know where it comes from.” Open for New Year’s Brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., their rustic ambiance indoors and dog-friendly outdoor patio have plenty of room for everyone! Arely’s French Bakery, in the Clairemont neighborhood, will open New Year’s Day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a casual French brunch for the whole fam! Ideal for anyone looking to skip the boozy brunch crowds, Arely’s is the best way to welcome the whole family. Take home a box of pastries and you’ll have breakfast for the whole week!  

Sandpiper Wood Fired Grill & Oysters, found in La Jolla Shores, the sister restaurant to Georges at the Cove, is holding New Year’s Day brunch from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The menu includes the Prime Rib California Burrito with fries, sour cream, guacamole, cheese, and pico de gallo, Skillet Corn Cake with ham, swiss cheese, fried egg, Wood Fired Pork Loin Benedict on a house-baked English muffin with crispy rosemary potatoes and poached egg, and Lemon Ricotta Pancakes topped with whipped cream!  

Partners Quiero Restuarants and Mike Hess Brewing are hosting the 6th-Annual Hair of the Hog all-you-can-eat-and-drink New Year’s Day brunch celebration from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at both their Seaport Village and Imperial Beach locations. Cost is $50.00 for adults, kids 12 and under can enjoy the all-you-can-eat brunch with sodas for only $20.00. Their menu includes build-you-own omelets, caramelized banana pancakes, Mike Hess fish tacos, Ahuevo breakfast tacos, vegetarian green chilaquiles, bacon, sausage, potatoes, all draft beers, mimosas, MIKEaladas, select wine, and sodas.
