National Margarita Day

Wednesday, February 22nd is National Margarita Day and we have a few recommendations for San Diego spots, with the best tequila cocktails, to keep your readers from making any “pour” decisions!

Recently celebrating ten years in Pacific Beach, Duck Dive is an ode to surf culture, bringing classic American dishes, coastal favorites, and cocktails with “off the beach” flair to their location just steps from the Pacific. Raise a toast to National Margarita Day with Duck Dive’s Take Me to Mexico: Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila - house infused with watermelon, basil & jalapeño, shaken with fresh lemon juice and agave nectar.

During the month of February, Barrio Star will feature Don Julio 1942, as well as a specialty guava-flavored margarita. With a vast selection of tequila and mezcal to handcraft your dream margarita, choose from flavors like the classic Barrio, Blood Orange, or Roasted Jalapeno Blackberry. Better yet, combine all three plus their monthly special with a margarita flight! Add a mezcal floater or make it a double to make it a night to remember.

Coco Maya brings Caribbean-inspired cuisine and drinks to India Street, and their first National Margarita Day in Little Italy is one worth raising a glass for. Indulge in a Side Piece with tamarind and chili oil infused mezcal, watermelon, lime, and mint for a fruity, refreshing pick-me-up. Happy hour is daily from 3pm to 5 pm, perfect for a midday margarita.

Sandpiper Wood Fired Grill & Oysters, the La Jolla Shores neighborhood sister restaurant to Georges at the Cove, is beloved for its wood fired grill selections, cozy atmosphere, extensive wine list, and craft cocktails. Created by Beverage Director Evan Vallee, owner of a Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 4 Diploma, Sandpiper’s Perfect Margarita mixes Blanco Tequila, Combier, Curacao, agave, and lime. Stop in from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. and enjoy $4 off your margarita during happy hour!

Sandbar brings a rooftop dining experience to Mission Beach, offering the perfect location to enjoy a margarita while soaking in the salty sea breeze. Enjoy a single or make it a pitcher to share with the Sandbargarita with El Jimador reposado tequila, fresh lime juice, agave nectar, and a salted rim. Take a walk on the fire side with a Spicy Tropical Margarita featuring Olmeca Altos Blanco Tequila, mango puree, pineapple juice, fresh lime juice, agave nectar, jalapeño, and fire bitters.
