Local Restaurants Participating in Dining Out for Life

On Thursday, April 27th, San Diego residents have the opportunity to participate in The Center's 17th Annual Dining Out for Life event, which supports HIV/AIDS services and prevention programs. I am excited to share with you a few of the best local spots that will be donating a portion, if not all, of their profits for the day.

Barrio Star, located in Bankers Hill, will be donating 60% of their proceeds. Known for their Mexican soul food, everything is freshly made with love, and their signature margaritas are a must-try. Some of their menu highlights include Guadalajara Corn, Tamal De Carnitas, Chile Relleno, and Taco De Birria. Dine-in or takeout is available from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and reservations are accepted.

Original 40 Brewing Company is donating 50% of their proceeds, and they serve some of the tastiest fare on University Avenue. Their menu features the Giant Bavarian Pretzel with house-made beer cheese and spicy brown mustard, the Buttermilk Fried Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and Steak Frites with chimichurri sauce. Dine-in or takeout is available from 12:00 noon to 12:00 midnight, and reservations are not accepted.

Breakfast Republic's Hillcrest location is going all out, donating 100% of their proceeds for the day! They are open from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for dine-in and takeout, and their menu features classic breakfast dishes like Shrimp & Ricotta Frittata, Oreo Cookie Pancakes, and Protein Pancakes. You can also enjoy a mimosa, morning mule, or bloody mary to start your day.

The Seventh House is known for serving up every meal with a side of divination and will be donating 25% of their proceeds to HIV/AIDs services and prevention programs. Their menu includes Watermelon Ceviche, Lamb Lollipops, and Duck Gnocchi, with Tableside Martinis, mimosas, and coffee for drinks. Reservations are accepted, with availability from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Al Dente is celebrating their first Dining Out for Life event and is excited to donate 25% of their proceeds to the cause. They serve authentic Italian food, with a specialty in homemade pasta. Their menu includes Gnocchi al Tartufo in a creamy truffle sauce, Fettuccine Pistacchio e Pesto, and Duck Pappardelle in a light red wine sauce. Dine-in, takeout, and delivery are available from 4:00 to 9:30 p.m.

With some of San Diego's most beloved restaurants participating in this event, charity has never tasted so good!
